Late of Burpengary, born in Glenarm, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Passed away peacefully, 31 July 2025.
Born in 1955 in the picturesque village of Glenarm, Ballymena, Ben was one of ten children raised with love, resilience, and a strong work ethic instilled by her devoted mother. The gardens of Glenarm Castle were her childhood playground, where her grandfather, Joe McEvoy, worked as a mechanic and chauffeur, and her mother often cooked when the Earl of Antrim’s family came to stay.
Ben was the cherished twin sister of Libby, and one of a close-knit sibling group including Teresa, Christine, Irene, Bridie, Siobhan, Tony, and her late brothers Aidan and Kevin. She followed her sisters to Australia, settling in Brisbane in the early 1980s.
A devoted and loving mother to Keith, Ben built a life of service and care, working as a carer for the nuns in Nundah and later for Guide Dogs Queensland at Bald Hills. She brought compassion and kindness to all she did.
Together with her beloved husband Will, Ben enjoyed travelling in their motorhome, annual holidays to the Sunshine Coast, and occasional visits back to Northern Ireland to reconnect with family and friends (despite the cold weather).
Ben will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and deep love for her family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held at Albany Creek Memorial Park on Friday, 8 August 2025 at 12:30 p.m. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend.
